Beverley Barracudas Events update
We continue in strange times for a while longer with some light at the end of the tunnel. My attention has turned to planning for the period when some normality may resume.
We started the year like most clubs and sports with our annual plan which relates to how we train the athletes and what competitions we will compete in. The recent events have obviously disrupted our planning so new plans need to be constantly drafted.
I have updated our annual calendar with events starting in June that at present have not been cancelled. It would be wrong to make any assumptions at this stage as to what will or wont take place so has Head Coach of the club I will prepare until informed differently.
The events listed (both team and individual) are what at present we plan for. The club will not participate in any events in May for obvious reasons.
I have added the Bridlington Seaside Special 3 day gala to our planning which is due to take place in mid July. This event will become very important if it goes ahead as offers one of the last chances for county times pre summer holidays. The organisation have said anyone entering this event does not need to pay upfront to make it simple in case they have to cancel. More details on this will follow shortly.
The situation is fluid regarding when we will return to training. I have been informed that swimming will be one of the first activities opened along with some fitness classes (reduced numbers) before gyms , cafes etc at leisure centres. Lets hope this is the case.
I would like to ask all swimmers to keep up a good level of fitness ready for a flying start when we return. Its good to have something to look forward to and aim for. As more information becomes available I will update our swim planning accordingly.
Lets keep positive and keep safe.
