Beverley Barracudas Swimming Club was established in 2006 at East Riding Leisure, Beverley. It is the club’s aim to promote competitive swimming and to train young swimmers from the age of seven upwards to eighteen to the highest possible standard. The club is run entirely by volunteers who are passionate about swimming and enabling each child to achieve their potential; whether at league, county, regional or national level.
Beverley Barracudas Swimming Club competes in several leagues and is currently the leading club in SADSA (Scarborough and District Swimming Association), having achieved championship status in the Premier League in 2018 and 2019. The club also competes in the Borders, which is a mid-level league, and in friendly galas which enable our new and younger swimmers to gain experience in racing and competition without too much pressure. We are also part of the Hull & District Swimming Association, taking part in galas throughout the year.
The club has held Swim England’s prestigious Swim Mark (formerly Swim 21) status since 2015, a quality standard for clubs which recognises high standards of governance, sustainability and effectiveness. The Swim Mark accreditation requires adherence to strict criteria for child welfare and safeguarding as well as high standards of coaching and teaching. In accordance with Swim Mark, the club has adopted the ASA Wavepower document for swimmer welfare.
The Barracudas have 6 ASA level 2 coaches and 4 Level 2 teachers supported by level 1’s and poolside helpers. From Club Start to Club Squad a consistent teaching and coaching method is implemented to ensure the best possible outcomes for the swimmers.
The club has strong ambitions to become the club of choice in the area and are continuing to expand and increase pool time to facilitate this.
