Beverley Barracudas Shine in Yorkshire Winter Swimming Association Competition.

In a thrilling display of aquatic prowess, the Yorkshire Winter Swimming Association Competition brought together talented swimmers at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds over two exciting weekends in October. The competition showcased outstanding dedication, record-breaking moments, and the emergence of promising young athletes.

Upper Age Groups Deliver Spectacular Performances.

The Upper Age Groups witnessed extraordinary performances, with several swimmers stealing the spotlight. Charlotte Wilkinson clinched the limelight by securing a well-deserved bronze in the 50m Breaststroke, whilst Kieran Grant proved to be a force to be reckoned with, taking home gold in both the 50m and 100m fly, in addition to a silver in the 100m backstroke.

The event also saw several top-ten placements, as Flora Myers, Lucy Curran, Thomas Gibbins, Lewis Hawden, and William Sutcliffe all demonstrated their remarkable skills and determination.

Lower Age Groups Celebrate Young Talent.

The Lower Age competition was equally captivating, as a new generation of swimmers showcased their talents. Notable achievements included:

  • Finley Charlton (10) securing 2nd place in the 100m fly, 5th in 50m fly, 8th in 100m medley, 9th in 50m freestyle, and 10th in 100m backstroke.
  • Tom Curran (12) impressing with a 2nd place in the 50m backstroke, 5th in the 100m backstroke, and 9th in the 50m freestyle.
  • Lottie Johnston (10) demonstrating her prowess with a 5th place in the 50m breaststroke, 5th in the 100m breaststroke, and 7th in the 50m fly.
  • Patrick Curran (10) showcasing his skills with a 5th place in the 50m backstroke, 5th in the 100m backstroke, and 9th in the 50m freestyle.
  • Oscar Harling (11) securing 8th place in the 50m breaststroke and 9th in the 100m breaststroke.
  • Esmé Gibson (10) earning 5th place in the 50m fly.
  • Emma Smith (9) impressing with a 10th place in the 100m freestyle.

In a remarkable achievement, Beverley Barracudas emerged as a powerhouse in youth swimming development in Yorkshire, ranking third for the number of swimmers qualifying in the lower age groups, behind the City of Leeds and City of Sheffield. This success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of both the swimmers and their coaches.
