  • North East Region Shine at Swim England National Awards!

The North East Region Won an Outstanding Number of Awards at the Swim England National Awards Ceremony 2022! The Swim England National Awards 2022 accomplishments were celebrated at the University of Birmingham’s Great Hall, where 14 awards were presented. The Swim England Awards kicked off with ‘Volunteer of the Year,’ which Helen Dutton won in recognition of her contribution to aquatics! Helen Dutton, Volunteer of the Year, said she was ‘overwhelmed’ after receiving a Swim England National Award. This year, the ‘tireless’ City of Leeds Diving Club volunteer served as the regional lead for the Swim England National Skills Final, and her ‘dilligence, selflessness, and passion’ for the sport contributed to the event’s success. She is also the diving manager for the North East Region and was quick to praise everyone in the diving community. Next up was the ‘Club of the Year’ Awards for the respective aquatic disciplines. This saw City of Sheffield Diving Club and Richmond Dales ASC who were the winners of the Swim England National Awards. Special mention to Rotherham Metro Water Polo Club who were finalists in the Water Polo Club of the Year Award. City of Sheffield Diving Club capped an ‘incredible year’ by being named Diving Club of the Year at the Swim England National Awards. Richmond Dales won Swimming Club of the Year at the Swim England National Awards, just months after welcoming a Ukrainian family into their community. After the family was forced to flee their homeland due to the invasion, Richmond was quick to provide the two children with the opportunity to continue swimming. We also had Silver Award winners with Jack Naylor Dunn being in the ‘Youth Volunteer of the Year’ category and Emily Crossley in the ‘Spirit of Aquatics’ Award. An exceptional achievement for both to be recognised for these incredible awards! Massive congratulations to the finalists as well in the following categories: Judith Halliday – Technical Official of the Year Marc Holdsworth – Coach of the Year From all of us here at the North East Region we are so proud of everyone who was nominated, a finalist, and award winners. Without you all, the aquatic sports in our region would not be possible! *Photos credited to Swim England
