Over the weekend of September 16th and 17th, the Beverley Barracudas hosted it’s annual September County Qualifier, creating a fantastic swimming spectacle. With 16 clubs and over 500 swimmers participating, the competition was fierce.
In an impressive display of skill and determination, the Beverley Barracudas clinched the Top Club title, amassing an incredible 1500 points. The second place was secured by the Scunthorpe Anchor team with 872.5 points, followed closely by Doncaster Dartes in third place with 826.5 points.
This event saw numerous swimmers achieving their County qualifying times, marking a significant milestone in many of their swimming careers. Among the standout performers, three individuals made a remarkable impact on the Barracudas’ points total: Finley Charlton, who not only contributed significantly to the team but also earned the prestigious title of Top 10 Year Old Boy; Zoe Goucher, a talented 11-year-old swimmer, and Owen Anderson, who displayed outstanding skills and was honoured with the Top 14 Year Old Boy trophy. There were of course, a tremendous amount of additional outstanding performances from a large number of Barracudas.
The Barracudas have cemented their place as a dominant force in the Yorkshire swimming scene and are now gearing up for the County Championships in October. An astonishing total of 68 swimmers from the club will be heading to The John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds, marking a phenomenal achievement. This event promises to be another exciting chapter in the Barracudas’ journey of success.
