Beverley Barracudas hosted their Winter Qualifier last weekend, drawing talented competitors from clubs across the region. Swimmers from Doncaster Dartes, Bridlington, Dearne Valley, South Hunsley, Bingley, Tadcaster, and Hucknall descended upon the event, creating a thrilling atmosphere at Beverley Leisure Centre.
The Winter Qualifier proved to be a resounding success for Beverley Barracudas as numerous swimmers achieved personal bests and secured coveted County or Regional qualification times for the upcoming long course championships in the new year. An impressive 14 Barracudas club records were broken by the determined swimmers over the course of the weekend.
The top accolades of the event were bestowed upon outstanding swimmers in various age categories. Among the notable recipients were Cecily Coulter and Oscar Dale in the 9-year-old category, Lottie Johnston for the 10-year-olds, Zoe Goucher in the 11-year-old division, Tom Curran in the 12-year-old category, Alfie Whitwell representing the 13-year-olds, Thomas Gibbins for the 14-year-olds, and Ellie Mae Macqualter and Alex McNamara for the 15 & over age group.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of coaches, technical officials, and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend. Their commitment ensured a smoothly run competition and contributed to the overall success of the Winter Qualifier. Gratitude was also extended to those who supported the Majorca Swim Camp fundraising stall by indulging in the tempting array of buns and cakes.
