Beverley Barracudas Swimming Club is celebrating the success of the County Qualifier Gala which took place over the weekend at Beverley Leisure Complex. The stellar performances of the swimmers alongside the excellent organisation culminated in a hugely successful event. Its increasing reputation as a not-to-be-missed event is certainly well-deserved amongst the swimming clubs of Yorkshire and Humber.
Swimmers of all ages and differing levels competed against a prestigious line-up of top swimmers from around the region. Ultimately, the number of County Qualifying times that were achieved throughout the weekend is to be celebrated. Swimmers can be congratulated for their individual successes and can be assured that the hours of training and hard work certainly paid off.
As a team competition, Beverley Barracudas finished the event in top place with 1329 points. Doncaster Darts achieved second place with 745 points and Tadcaster finished in third place with 676 points. The full team results can be found on Open Meets along with the individual race results. Head coach, Wayne Smith, was extremely proud of all the young swimmers’ efforts and thanks the coaches for their dedication and high quality training that they provide.
Club organisers are pleased with the smooth running of the event which involved meticulous forward planning and an army of willing volunteers over the two days. The loyalty of the coaches, staff and parents is testament to the commitment of the adult body which supports Beverley Barracudas. Additionally, the club would like to formally thank the Officials from the day and the Beverley Leisure Complex staff for their hospitality and expertise in coordinating the 22 teams from far and wide who attended the event.
As the Yorkshire Championships approach, Beverley Barracudas’ swimmers are preparing to showcase their talents alongside the County’s top swimmers. We are all looking forward to the forthcoming Yorkshire Winter Competition which is due to take place in October 21.
